Why MBIG?
The majority of Ringtones sold are current chart hits and film & TV themes. In order to sell Ringtones, whether monophonic, polyphonic or incorporating the master(Realtones orTruetones) it is necessary for the Ringtones seller to first identify the copyright owners. For monophonic or polyphonic Ringtones (not incorporating the original master) this means finding the controlling music publisher or, as is more likely in the U.S.A., the joint music publishers. For Realtones, which actually sample the original master recording, not only must the publishers be contacted, but also the record companies that own those actual recordings.
MBIG has been created to supply its clients with music publisher and record company contact information for every Pop, Urban and Country U.S. chart hit since 2000 while also continuing to update this information for every new chart entry as well.
For Realtones (aka Truetones), MBIG can also identify the appropriate master recording owner and further act as a client's licensing agent if requested.
This MBIG site also contains a Library of generic Realtones searchable by genre and available at reduced royalty rate**.
All predictions are that mobile entertainment will continue to grow and that a substantial proportion of that entertainment will be music based. Wherever U.S. based music is being used in the mobile world, MBIG can locate the owners and licence that music.
MBIG allows its clients to conduct business legally and efficiently in the U.S.A.
** In most cases, the license will be at a fixed royalty of $.25 (twenty five cents) per retail sale, depending upon proposed usage and territories.
